Flat Color Illustrations

Design and Illustration

I think it’s obvious. I’m a huge fan of flat color design. It’s timeless. The first time I saw my first Hatch Show Print poster (look ’em up), I knew I wanted to create in that style. Computers take all the fun and beautiful mistakes away from the letterpress, but who has one of those laying around.

Above: An illustration of the old Pearl Brewery (now, Hotel Emma, an amazing boutique hotel) in San Antonio, TX. I lived two blocks from this building for 3 years and wanted to create something cool to remember it. Below: I collected a lot of baseball cards as a kid in the 80s. Looking back at them now, the design fails in comparison to the earlier designs of the 50s and 60s. This is my take on a classic. Someday this will be a series, but had to start with “Hammerin’ Hank.”
