Clark Odom
I am a highly skilled creative professional with 20 years of experience in the design industry. I thrive on creating strong brand identities for businesses of all sizes by establishing a professional and cohesive look for all customer-facing touch-points.
Background
I’m not your typical creative. I didn’t give the profession a thought until my early 20s. Why would I? I was going to play baseball for a living and at the time it wasn’t that far-fetched. I was good. The Pirates drafted me out of high school, but I wanted to go to college, get an education, have a little fun and hone my skills. Plenty of time, right?
Fast-forward five years. Major league teams weren’t calling and I was looking for options. I had always been naturally artistic and had a high shool portfolio to prove it–and thanks to Mom and her preservation of all things from my childhood, it was still in one piece. So, armed with a collection of unfinished illustrations and paper-mache, I interviewed at one of the best design schools in the country with legendary advertising teacher, Rob Lawton. He saw something. I won some awards and two-years later started a career.

Professional Qualities
As a young designer working in the magazine industry–giving every page the attention of a realist painter–I learned a very important lesson. The magazine was eventually going to be in someone’s trash.
I still persue perfection and take my job very seriously.
Myself, not so much.
I’m seriously
in pursuit of perfection
thinking strategically
focused on deadlines
creating with an open-mind
leading a team
communicating effectively
enjoying what I do
I’m not seriously

cutting the rug
hopeful for UT football
believing my short-game will improve

Professional Skills
I believe it is impossible to build a brand without knowing where a company came from, the road they traveled, and where they want to go. The things that often separate a brand from the rest of the pack are often already present in its culture. My job is to pay attention and present that culture in a professional way that connects with their market through strategy and design.

Clients
I pride myself on building strong relationships with clients. I learned early in my career–a portfolio and introduction only go so far. Trust must be earned through open communication and accountability. And once a client knows I have their best interest in mind, success is just around the corner.
From startups to international brands, here are some of the companies that I have been fortunate to work with.
