Some jobs seem simple at the outset. Those are the ones to be most afraid of.

If you’ve listened to the radio in the past 20 years, you know who André Benjamin is. He along with Big Boi make up the hip-hop duo Outkast. Being from Atlanta and loving their music, I jumped at the chance to work with him even if it was a simple business card design. He already had a logo and a look-book He needed a high-end business card. No problem. The design was signed off on quickly.

Then came the printing. I had to find a printer that had 24 pt card stock, could emboss (without the reverse side debossing), foil stamp the emboss, run a gloss overlay and dip the edges (in gold). That printer didn’t exist. Five printers, five fails and a month later we found a small shop that finally hit perfection.
