Title

Art Director
Graphic Designer

GeorgiaTrend was my first full-time graphic design gig and the beginning of my love affair with print, a well-thought-out grid and all the ways you can break it. GeorgiaTrend not only launched my career as a graphic designer, it gave me the opportunity to grow and establish my style. I was lucky enough to art direct two redesigns with the goal of creating a more current brand and growing a younger audience. The last of which, launching in January of 2016, is my proudest work in the magazine industry. It was also a fitting way to say goodbye to my home state of Georgia as I headed to the west coast.

Highlights of the 2016 Redesign

Redesigned type logo
Established new cover elements and photographic style
Established new fonts and usage
Created new templates for all reoccurring columns
New Table of Contents design
Created new graphic elements for featured content
Tied-in more “Georgia” elements, such as the state flag
Saturated the pages with flat color and minimalist design
Through the years: Repping the 80s in the 2000s (top left) with the original nameplate. The 2009 redesign over-embraced the slab font trend, but the cover is one of a few collage-designs I’ve ever created and liked; while the original font I created for the 2016 nameplate mixed with a tall serf and minimalist design (right) hit a sweet spot.
